topic 49: IT’S NOT YET OVER!

“I’m tired of this situation, I have written different entrance exams yet my admission has not been granted…”
“It’s like this relationship issue is not meant for someone like me. All the guys I have ever been with cheated on me…”

“I don’t think I can pass this course this time because I have tried so many times but I just keep failing…”
“I have been seeking for a good job ever since I graduated yet…”

Are you battling with these
kinds of thoughts? Have these thoughts made you concluded that the best thing to do is to GIVE UP AND FORGET THE WHOLE DRAMA? Who says you can’t make it in life? What makes you feel you can’t find someone better than that guy or lady that jilted you? What makes you feel people who are making it are better than you?

It’s time for you to wipe away those tears and erase those negative thought, for IT’S NOT YET OVER. You need to believe that despite your shortcomings it’s not yet over for you. Life has given you a present called “today”, and you can only make use of the present if you give yourself the chance to. Don’t deprive yourself a chance to try things when you still have strength because, whether you like it or not, a time will come when you would love to do something but wouldn’t be able due to old age and lack of strength. At that stage, you can only enjoy satisfaction by reflecting on the right things you have done during your youthful age.

People who gave up at one point in life ended up getting depressed. They experienced a feeling of inferiority; life became meaningless to them and most times it led to suicidal attempt which eventually led to death. Giving up is never a solution to any problem. It’s just a way of running away from it, which would never change the fact that the problem is still there. Instead of running, why not stand your ground and face the challenges. Winners never quit! It does not matter how many times you have to try. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve failed. What matters is each time you try, know you are a step closer and better than when you started.

A good example is the current president of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, who aspired for the post of president for 12 years contesting consistently for 3 presidential elections. Do you think if he had given up at his 1st or 2nd attempt he would be where he is today? Another example is Walt Disney, who was fired by a newspaper editor because he lacked imagination and had no good ideas. He also started a number of businesses that didn’t last too long due to bankruptcy and failure, but he didn’t stop trying. Today Disney rakes in billions from merchandise movies and theme parks around the world.

We also have Bill Gates, Henry Ford, Isaac Newton and many others. These are great people that we appreciate their success but they didn’t achieve all these successes overnight. They passed through series of disappointment that didn’t stop them from moving forward because they were determined. Why not make that determination today and keep moving even when you stumble and fall? Rise up to your feet, kick away the stone and keep moving till you get there…

There is popular song of Yolanda Adams which goes thus:

They said you wouldn’t make it so far, and ever since they’ve said it’s been hard, but never mind the night you had to cry cause you had never let it go inside. You worked real hard and you know exactly what you want and need. So believe and you can never give up. You can reach your goals just talk to your soul and say: I believe I can, I believe I will, I believe I know my dreams are real, I believe I’ll stand, I believe I’ll dance, I believe I’ll grow real soon and that is what I do believe.

Don’t give up for hope is alive…
